This morning, I woke up in my last hotel bed, packed my bag for the last time, and headed off for my last journey of my trip. It really is all coming to an end, and a sense of misery is rather starting to sweep over me…
However, I shall use this time to reflect back positively on all the amazing things I have seen and done in the last 5 months and focus on the fact, that actually, it will be quite nice to see my family and friends again and I am genuinely rather looking forward to working again (maybe I actually like what I do?). So, Bring It On!
I do have to get home first, though… I had an easy enough journey from Stratford to Euston (via St Pancras and although the train was delayed, it did not effect me) and at Euston I treated myself to a Leon breakfast (as I do at Euston):

My train was called on time, and I had a seat and somewhere to put my big bag – it’s all going worryingly well so far…

My journey continued to be painless. I arrived on time into Stafford, Mum and Keith got a car to work (although there are suspicions that the battery can no longer be trusted) so my journey is definitely now at end and it really is over.

I have unpacked (a bit), done a little laundry (there isn’t much) and gone with Mum on the Abbots Bromley walking tour – it did not take long. However, we walked past the war memorial which now has a new bench (the only “new” site in the 6 months I have been gone), the village green (tiny) including the “Butter Cross” which is the oldest structure in the village and dates back to the 13th century, and a sign telling the story of the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance. This is really the thing that the village is famous for, and is an annual dance/parade – more details available Here

So, I am writing this final installment in my pyjamas, and shortly we will be making a start on my requested first meal home of sausages and mash. I do intend to do 1 final post reflecting back on the amazing time I have had rather than fall into a decline, but consider this (almost) the end…
